Dr. Nicholas T. Salava
Dr. Salava chose dentistry because of his passion for improving people's lives through comprehensive healthcare. Understanding the crucial connection between oral and overall health, he takes a holistic approach to dental care. Whether treating dental infections, sleep apnea, TMD, or chronic headaches, his goal is to enhance both your smile and your quality of life.
Professional Journey
After earning his degree in human biology from the University of Kansas, Dr. Salava gained valuable hands-on experience in dentistry before pursuing his doctorate at A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health. His dedication to excellence earned him both a graduate certificate in public health and multiple service and academic awards. Furthering his expertise, he dedicated two years to a Periodontal Residency at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, specializing in advanced periodontal disease and dental implant therapy.
Dr. Salava's commitment to comprehensive care led him to complete the Mastery Program through the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. As a proud Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine – the highest credential in this field – he brings expert-level knowledge in treating sleep apnea and snoring through custom oral appliance therapy.
Beyond the Studio
Dr. Salava treasures time with his wife Kelsi, their daughters Kate and Nora, and their energetic puppy Margo. You might spot him biking Lawrence's trails or boating on the lake with his family. The Salavas are grateful to call Lawrence home, where they've built strong connections with neighbors who've become like family.

During this comprehensive appointment, Dr. Salava will take time to understand your dental history, concerns, and goals. We'll perform a thorough examination, including digital x-rays and intraoral photos, to create a complete picture of your oral health. You'll receive a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your needs and preferences, all explained in clear, straightforward terms.
What to Bring
Please bring your photo ID, dental insurance card (if applicable) and completed patient forms. If you have recent dental x-rays from another office, having those transferred ahead of time to our practice email is helpful.
